Join us for a visually rich evening as Prof. Drew McClellan reveals how filmmakers harness color to shape emotion, deepen narrative meaning, and build unforgettable cinematic worlds. Through the strategic use of hue, saturation, and brightness, we’ll explore how directors, cinematographers, and production designers craft visual moods, reveal character psychology, and orchestrate emotional responses on a subconscious level.
By analyzing iconic scenes from both classic and contemporary films, attendees will uncover how color contrast and harmony guide our eyes, structure visual progression, and create the emotional architecture of a film.

Prof. Drew McClellan is an award-winning educator, filmmaker, and visual strategist. He serves as an adjunct professor at USC’s School of Cinematic Arts and is Chair of the Cinematic Arts Department at the Los Angeles County High School for the Arts (LACHSA), home to the nation’s top-ranked high school cinematic arts program.
